There are two ways to pay for it: on Isla Mujeres the program already comes with the full day (ferry or catamaran, food and drinks) and starts at MX$1,599; at Xcaret and Xel-Há the swim is bought separately from park admission, so the total goes up.Paid thereEvery dolphinarium charges a tax or dock fee on site that is not included in the price.

Almost every dolphinarium offers three levels. The difference is how long you spend in the water and what you do with the dolphin; in the most complete level, two dolphins take part.

How you get to the dolphinarium
- Isla Mujeres: hotel pickup (Hotel Zone and downtown) or you get to the Playa Langosta pier on your own; from Playa del Carmen there is transport for MX$263.
- Delphinus: optional transport to the habitat for US$10 per booking.
Before you go
- You don't need to know how to swim: you always wear a life vest and you are on a platform where you can stand or float.
- Arrive 30 minutes early for your swim time; the dolphinarium assigns time slots.
- Take off jewelry and sunscreen before going in; use biodegradable sunscreen afterwards.
- Companions who don't swim can come in with a companion pass and watch from the pier.
- Photos and video are taken by the dolphinarium; your own cameras are not allowed in the water.
- If you are celebrating something (honeymoon, proposal, birthday) let us know when you book: the trainers will prepare it.

Frequently asked questions about swimming with dolphins
Is the dolphin swim included in Xcaret Plus or on the catamaran?
No. The swim is bought separately: at Xcaret as the Dolphin Tour and on Isla Mujeres as the Encounter, Connection or Royal program. Here you can combine them in a single booking.
How much does it cost to swim with dolphins in Cancun?
From MX$1,599 per person on Isla Mujeres with the full day included; at Xel-Há and Xcaret from MX$3,483 with park admission. Plus the dock fee or tax paid there.
Can I swim with dolphins if I can't swim?
Yes. You wear a life vest the whole time and the activity takes place on a platform; you float, you don't swim.
From what age can kids take part?
From age 1 with an adult in the basic program on Isla Mujeres; the intermediate and advanced programs require age 8 or 1.20 m. Each listing shows its dolphinarium's ages.
Can I go on my own?
Yes. Programs are sold per person; the couple and family deals are optional.
Which is better for swimming with dolphins, Xcaret or Xel-Há?
Xel-Há if you want the swim with a day of water and snorkeling; Xcaret if you are going for the park and the evening show. If you only want the swim, Isla Mujeres is cheaper and the dolphins are in the sea.
Do companions who don't swim pay?
They pay for a companion pass or park admission; on Isla Mujeres, the basic catamaran or ferry.
What is paid on site?
The dock fee (US$15 on Isla Mujeres) or the ISEEPA tax (MX$50 at Delphinus), and photos.
Is there a deal for couples or families?
Yes: Encounter and Connection for couples (MX$2,999) or families (MX$3,499); also Garrafón with a dolphin swim.
Can I cancel or change the date?
With a booking deposit, you can change the date free of charge up to 24 hours before; check each dolphinarium's policy on its listing.
